Curriculum
As well as providing quality programs in English, Mathematics and Science, the College also offers a wide range of quality options in Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE), Technology, The Arts, and Health and Physical Education.
Programs offered by the college which set it apart from other schools in the district are Performing Arts, Sport, Physical Education and Outdoor Education.
At Years 9&10 all Teaching & Learning Areas continue to be compulsory but within a unit structure where broad student choice is provided. The curriculum is divided into a set number of units to be completed over two years. Each Teaching and Learning Area is represented in this system. In addition to the regular program, there are special programs which allow early entry to VCE units, and project studies in Hovercraft, Coloured Tales, Kool Schools Music, Sportsworld in which students of Year 9 have the opportunity to explore an area of interest in depth. The emphasis is in personalising learning for each student.
At Years 11& 12, a comprehensive range of studies is offered. Students are also able to select from a number of Vocational Education & Training (VET) and Victorian Certificate of Advanced Learning (VCAL) courses. Students have the opportunity to access specialist programs such as Youth Pathways and Students at Risk. The College also has links with TAFE Colleges to enable students to access TAFE courses. Students are mentored in the development of their own individual pathway as part of their preparation for post-secondary education.
