Background
Lowanna College is one of three large government secondary education providers in the Latrobe Valley with a clear will to establishing itself as a centre of educational excellence in the Gippsland Region. It is a modern, well appointed single campus college with a student population of 1100 and 140 staff members, with a variety of experience, seniority and age.
Located in Newborough, the college draws its enrolments from Moe/Newborough, district towns of Yallourn North, Erica, Rawson, Willow Grove and the surrounding rural areas.
The college is committed to promoting student achievement, fostering positive relationships and catering for individual differences. It aims to prepare students for the future by providing learning experiences and facilities that result in responsible, independent, confident and mature learners.
Lowanna College provides an extensive range of programs including Year 8 and 9 electives, Year 9 projects, VCE at Years 10, 11 and 12, VET, and VCAL. It also offers leadership and personal development opportunities including debating, arts performances, international exchanges, community work and sporting competitions.
