Semester 1 reports will be distributed next week on Friday at 2.00pm. Due to the fact we will be checking up until we distribute them, we will not be in a position to distribute them to students or parents any earlier than the above time. Please note also that students who do not attend on the day will not have their reports distributed if they turn up after the conclusion of the day. Reports Review Further to reports, School Council is currently engaged in some debate about what parents would like to see on report formats in the future; at this stage we have used a format based on what the department has said we must have, and what we believe parents would want to know. I would like to give parents the opportunity to come in and give us some feedback about what a useful report looks like to them, the things they look for on a report about their child’s progress. Staff Farewells At the end of any term and semester there is always some staff turnover and some retirements. It is always sad to see staff leaving us. We are farewelling Jo Baker from Lowanna College; Jo has been a fantastic teacher, coordinator, leader and colleague to all. She has been a part of the College community for twenty years and will be missed. I am hoping Jo will be prepared to come back and help us out in the future. Karen Lanyon will be moving to Mirboo North Secondary College to take up a position as Principal. We are all very pleased for Karen and wish her all the best in her new role and look forward to good things for her and Mirboo North Secondary College. Mavis Scammell, one of our librarians is also retiring at the end of Term. Mavis has been with us for a while now and has also taught English and SOSE. We will miss Mavis’ giving and caring nature and no doubt we will see her again at times at Lowanna. School Musical Don’t forget the upcoming College Musical in July; our staff and students are working really hard at making sure we again present another quality show in 2008. I hope to see you there early next term. Lastly, I would like to wish all families a good break and hopefully you will find time to spend time together and we look forward to seeing our students back in term 3.
